Price gap meat/plant-based

Price gap between plant-based products and meat analogues growing smaller

Questionmark researched the price differences between plant-based products and meat counterparts in Belgian supermarkets, in partnership with Eva zvw.

A majority of the plant-based products are affordable (within the price range of) or cheaper than their animal counterparts. In these times with high food prices, we find consumers may be better off financially when buying plant-based products.

Notably, the plant-based assortment in Belgian supermarkets is still limited. Supermarkets often offer only one plant-based product for multiple animal counterparts. Supermarkets can help consumers make a more sustainable food choice by expanding their plant-based assortment.
