The first ranking of retail chains places Lidl at the top
Poland among Europe’s leaders in climate and protein transition plans
The first European ranking of retail chains shows that supermarkets are making efforts to use their influence on the food system to counter climate change; however, across all major retail chains in Europe, significant emissions reductions are still needed.
- Lidl Polska ranks 2nd out of 27 assessed European retail chains, being the only retailer included in the study in Poland that has a detailed climate action plan as well as a protein transition strategy.
- None of the three retail chains examined in Poland has yet achieved emissions reductions compared to the base year.
- The report reveals significant differences in retail chains’ approaches to climate transformation.
