French supermarkets rank among Europe’s worst performers on climate issues
E.Leclerc comes last in this unprecedented European ranking
Réseau Action Climat has joined forces with the Dutch think tank Questionmark and its partners—the associations Madre Brava, ProVeg International, and WWF Pays-Bas—to publish a first-of-its-kind rating of the actions taken to reduce CO₂ emissions and rebalance protein sales across 27 supermarket chains.
Dutch retailers occupy the top positions in the ranking, far ahead of French chains: Carrefour ranks 12th and Intermarché 20th, while E.Leclerc appears in last place.
